Dent Universal Base©  (DUB 7.5)

The Dent Universal Base is a Tri-Base system that can adapt to ALL bolt circles in use throughout the National Highway System in the United States. This system uses the Dent Bolts™ or can use conventional bolts. When used with the Dent Bolts™, the base can be attached by using ground anchors which can use either epoxy or concrete to install. Anchors are galvanized to avoid rust.

When impact occurs, the system breaks away at ¼" above the installation height. The above pictured base will accept either 2-7/8″OD pipe or 2-1/2″ Square Tube and has 4 set screws or bolts to make installation simple. This system will help prevent the sign post from turning and ground anchor damage.

This base can be used with round tube or square pipe applications, has 4 set screws, and accepts the Dent Ground Anchor System. When the DUB 7.5 is used in conjunction with the Dent Breakaway Bolt ®™ no Keeper Plate is required.

Dent Breakaway Bolt

How Dent Breakaway Bolts®™ Save Lives

Sign slip bases work where the vehicle strikes the support in the direction of the notches or traffic. When a slip base is struck at an angle other than parallel to the roadway, the base fails to release, thus causing the vehicle to stop abruptly. Also, if the bolts are not torqued properly, the slip base may not release when impacted by a vehicle traveling parallel to the roadway, the vehicle again will stop abruptly. The Dent Breakaway Bolt ® ™ eliminates these deficiencies of the slip base. With its breakaway feature, the support will disengage from a hit in any direction.
Why Specify Dent Breakaway Bolt®™

The Dent Breakaway Bolt ® ™ can be used for new installations, repairs, or retrofits. Any system using the bolt meets NCHRP 350, including the Omni direction criteria. Because of its breakaway feature, there is no torque requirement. This reduces the sensitivity of the installation, and eliminates periodic inspections to check the torque. They also allow base plates to be designed with holes instead of the more expensive notches. The bolt can be designed to the states standards. It comes in any length and 5 different diameters. To date, all reported impacts have indicated favorable results. The bases all released as expected, either breaking or slipping.

THE DENT GROUND ANCHOR SYSTEM ©

  • Stub Post Ground Anchor System
The stub post ground anchor system is highly used. It's used only on the tri-base system and in place of the J and L bolt installations. It is used for small sign installations. The stub post is designed to meet several states specifications and allows a bottom slip pane for the Dent Universal Base system. Additionally, the Dent Bolts work with and are approved with this system.

  • Heavy Duty Couplings
Heavy Duty Couplings are designed to allow a J bolt to be screwed into one end and a Dent Breakaway bolt. ™ ® bolt to be screwed into the other as part of the ground anchor system. By making these universal (different sizes on each end) it allows an installer to repair a damaged pole that has existing J or L bolts coming out of the concrete by screwing on a coupling and then adding bolts of the necessary size to hold the pole structure down. This changes a system that is not breakaway or bi-breakaway to Omni-directional breakaway upon impact from a radical vehicle.

Most couplings you find at a local hardware store are zinc plated. Our heavy-duty couplings are hot dipped galvanized to provide longer lifespan and better performance. Our Couplings are manufactured oversized per ASTM A153 specifications to screw onto a galvanized Dent Breakaway bolt ™ ® or anchor system.

Sizes available are from 1/2 inch through 1 inch. All N/C Threads.
